Career Opportunities

The following outlines potential careers for graduates of Algonquin Careers Academy's programs.  

Healthcare

Personal Support Worker

Graduates of the Personal Support Worker Diploma Program are prepared to pursue a career in the traditional nursing assistant role in health care environments such as nursing homes, retirement residences, hospitals, hospices, and with health care service organizations.  

Medical Office Assistant

Common job titles for students obtaining employment after graduation include medical office assistant, dental office assistant, medical secretary, medical transcriptionist, receptionist and medical billing clerk.  

Pharmacy Technician

Graduates of this program will be prepared to work under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist in community pharmacies, hospitals and other related pharmaceutical fields. A Pharmacy Technician will typically be responsible for a variety of duties from compounding pharmaceuticals, preparing medication for dispensing, third party billing and of course exceptional customer service.

Medical Laboratory Assistant

Medical Laboratory Assistant graduates find career opportunities primarily in laboratory environments: diagnostic testing labs, hospital labs, public health labs, quality control labs. A number of graduates will also find employment in a medical clinic or physician's clinic.

Travel and Hospitality

Travel Counsellor Advise clients on travel options and tour packages, make bookings and reservations, prepare tickets and receive payment, respond to customer inquiries about travel destinations, transportation schedules and travel costs, sell tickets and package tours to customers, plan trip itineraries for individuals or groups, promote packaged tours and other travel services offered by the agency.
