Computer Reservation Systems
 
This course will introduce the student to the basic operation of the Airline Reservation System. Through "HANDS-ON" experience, the student will learn how to make reservations, determine fares, and obtain additional information to meet the client needs.
Tours and Surface Transportation
 
Tour selection and planning is an important part of a travel agency's business. Cruising, rail transportation and motor coach tours will be studied in conjunction with package and independent tours. Upon completion the students will be able to successfully select and sell tours to meet client needs.
Agency Operations
 
This course will introduce the student to the day to day operations of a travel agency and how it applies to travel counselors. Topics covered include: filing procedures, agency accounting and maintaining client files. Instruction includes resume preparation and how to successfully secure employment.
Domestic/International Fares and Ticketing
 
This course will give the student a basic understanding of airline terminology. With the use of the Official Airline Guide and the ATPCO Tariff, students will plan itineraries and calculate the most advantageous fare to meet client needs and budget. With this knowledge students will issue the standard traffic documents with the precision required in the travel industry.
Travel and Tourism Geography
 
This course is designed to create an awareness not only of the basic location of cities and countries but also to develop a cultural awareness of popular tourist destinations. The course of study includes aspects such as the best time to travel, potential health problems, the best way to get around and many other unique aspects a destination may have to offer.
Sales Techniques
 
This course introduces the necessary sales techniques required to compete successfully in the travel industry. Instruction includes methods to develop and maintain a client base, maximizing profits and a ten day agency work experience program arranged by the Academy.
